Why does 12 Days of Wellness matter?

From rollbacks on reproductive rights to attacks on DEI and healthcare, the government has made it clear: our lives, our labor, and our leadership are undervalued and under attack.

92% of Black women voted against this administration, yet 100% of us are being harmed by the policies, attacks, and political decisions being passed down.

The weight of systemic racism, misogyny, and capitalism doesn’t take a holiday; it doubles down during this season of stress and scarcity.

As Black women, we did not create these crises, but we are expected to fight them every single day — for ourselves, our families, and our communities. We carry the trauma of racist policies, the exhaustion of caregiving, and the burden of being “the backbone” while rarely being centered.

WE ARE EXHAUSTED.

But let’s be clear: it is unjust that Black women should ever have to pay for our own healing. This campaign is not asking Black women to do more labor — it is asking the broader community to step up. Allies, funders, and partners must share the responsibility of resourcing what Black women have carried for generations.

For Black women, this is a season of restoration, joy, and affirmation. For everyone else, it is a call to action: fund, amplify, and invest in the wellness of the very women who have invested in you, your families, and your communities without rest.

12 Days of Wellness is not just a campaign; it is a radical act of survival and protest against white supremacy and capitalism, which thrive on Black women’s exhaustion and silence. By centering our rest, joy, and mental health, we reject systems that were never built for us and reclaim our right to live fully well.
